Read your glasses prescriptionYour prescription is made up of sets of numbers in either – or + form. If you need glasses for distance it will be written on DIST line on your prescription. If you need reading glasses this could be written in two different ways, either by the full prescription being written on the NEAR line or by an ADD figure written on the NEAR line (see diagrams below). The 2 examples below are for the same prescription but written in 2 different ways. If your prescription is written as example 1 you do not need to complete the near line just put your ADD figure in the box provided. If your prescription is written as example 2 please complete both the DIST and NEAR lines and ignore the ADD box. EXAMPLE 1
If you see a number in the prism box please enter the number shown, and in the base box please enter the letter as follows:- U = UP D = DOWN I = IN O = OUT
If the letters DS are written after the Sph reading this means there is no Cyl or Axis. Please select 0.00 in the Cyl box and 0 in the Axis box. You also need to fill in the date of your prescription as it is only valid for 2 years, the reason for this is not only your vision which may have changed but also medical conditions such as diabetis, glaucoma, cataracts and others can be detected.
